BRIDGE INTO THE INDUSTRY

Train with the best while "bridging" your way into the industry! Developed for dancers ages 17+ (must be graduated from their respective dance programs and/or high school) who are still trying to figure out his or her path in the dance world, the Mather Dance Company Bridge Into the Industry program allows a full season of training while identifying which direction to take. Dancers will refine their skills in many different styles, be given opportunities to connect with top agents from Los Angeles, will receive personalized critiquing and coaching from Industry Professionals - Shannon Mather, Nicole Smith and more... - and will end the full 11-month experience with a basis to "bridge" right into the industry as a working professional artist!

HOW DO I APPLY FOR CONSIDERATION INTO THE BRIDGE PROGRAM?

The application process is simple...

1. Complete the contact information below.

2. Once the Director contacts you, submit a solo video from your most recent competition season OR an in-studio solo/improv video of good quality, showing movement and technical skills in both contemporary/lyrical and hip hop styles (best to film in form fitting dance wear rather than loose clothing, so we can see your body movement and form).

3. Include a head shot (does not have to be professional) with your video submission.

4. When submitting the information below, please include any details that make you stand out. What makes you different from the dancer standing next to you? Why do you love the art of dance? What are your goals?

HOW DOES THE BRIDGE PROGRAM WORK?

Dancers accepted into the program are expected to attend a minimum of 14-16 hours of training per week; with 8-10 being Bridge-specific. A final schedule will be communicated in mid-August. Additionally, each member is expected to attend a customized schedule of MDC Advanced level or above classes held nightly throughout the week. The schedule will be available in September and encompasses a full offering of ballet, contemporary, on-camera, jazz, hip hop, ballroom, partnering, technique, social media/marketing, body conditioning, and more. Company Director Shannon Mather will determine each program member's customized schedule after the first week of classes. Within the first two months, a private meeting with each Bridge member will be conducted to insure appropriate structuring of classes to meet each member's specific needs.

Dancers are also free to attend conventions, auditions, and classes in LA on their own time outside of the MDC Bridge Schedule. If a dancer is not currently represented, image consultation can be provided for head shots, along with a list of viable photographers and agencies for interviewing.

Bridge Program members have the opportunity to dance in the final MDC Annual Show (scheduled for July). We often have a group of guest agents from LA who are looking to sign dancers. This is a fantastic way to be featured on stage right in front of them! More information will follow.

OPTIONAL: If a dancer would like to compete as a Senior member of the Mather Dance Company, a private audition can be scheduled through the Bridge Director with Company Director, Shannon Mather. Dancers must still be 19 years or younger on January 1, 2026 in order to be eligible. Bridge Program members who choose to compete with MDC are financially responsible for competition fees, costuming and props.

Regular check-ins will be conducted by the Bridge Program Director.

WHEN DOES THE PROGRAM BEGIN AND END?

The 2025-2026 Bridge Program begins early September, 2025 and ends early August, 2026.

ARE HOUSING AND TRANSPORTATION PROVIDED?
